Rhythmic Motion

Rhythmic Motion is an open level course that utilizes rhythm and musical concepts as a recipe for movement.

The movement method, Rhythmic Motion, is an improvisational and compositional practice that replaces sound with physical movement. Rhythms of the body, mind, and environment are used as a consisting through line. Through this concept, students will learn how to create and perform rhythms with the body rather than only dance to the rhythm of the music. They are taught to dance the rhythm, and therefore create music with a specific instrument—the individual body. Using deliberate and impulsive bodily rhythms, Rhythmic Motion allows dancers to quickly learn movement combinations with more ease and execute varying dynamics and suspensions.
